Hunger affects us all. It exists in every community, whether it’s your neighbor that recently lost their job, or the senior that lives nearby. It might be a child whose only source of food is from school breakfast and lunch and who struggles on the weekends. Hunger is found throughout Alabama, and helping feed hungry people in our community means helping in every way we can.
Our eight Feeding Alabama food banks serve every county in our state, through a diverse array of programs. We provide food to our 1600 partners – pantries, congregations, soup kitchens – but we also keep families from experiencing hunger in so many other ways. Our food banks run summer meal programs for children who are hungry in the summer without the school meals they depend on. Our food banks help seniors and veterans sign up for SNAP benefits to help keep them from going hungry, or having to choose between food and medicine. But we don’t do it alone. We do it in partnership with volunteers and agencies and churches and state employees.
