During the 2019 legislative session, a bipartisan bill was introduced and passed that allows school lunchrooms to donate excess food to community organizations. This bill, HB566, was also adopted and approved by the Alabama Board of Education; thus, allowing local school districts to establish food donation policies and procedures.
